At the helm of Breathe Adventures are Alice and Pete McNeil. After spending 2 years travelling the globe by bicycle (as a honeymoon) they wanted to share this essence of adventure (without first having to sell all your world possessions), and offer this 'antidote' to what has become modern society. Breathe was born.
Here's a little bit more about them:
Pete is a qualified Mountain Bike Guide, Expedition Leader and holds his Mountain Leader qualification. He started this journey here in the Lakes after completing an Outdoor Studies degree (where he met Alice) and turning down a place with the Royal Marines as an Officer. He has worked extensively in both the UK and overseas, including training Mountain Bike Guides in Nepal, running biking holidays in Spain and leading Expeditions all over the world. He has an infectious enthusiasm for getting out and having adventures, as well as professional knowledge on skills, bike mechanics and navigation. He also runs Adventure Pedlars a company designed to inspire people to get out and have adventures by bike through intro to bikepacking courses and kit hire. He heads up all the guiding on the escape retreats and runs workshops on skills and mechanics on our mountain bike escapes.
Alice is a Registered Yoga Teacher, Chartered Physiotherapist and Mindfulness Teacher, she leads the body-mind aspects of the escapes. With a MSc in Psychology and in Physiotherapy, Alice uses yoga to bridge the gap between these two disciplines as she invites you to explore your physical and psychological capabilities, on and off the mat. She likes to combine 'eastern knowledge' and 'western evidence' so wrote her Psychology thesis on the Restorative Effects of the Natural Environment, and her Physiotherapy thesis on Mindfulness and Chronic Pain. Under her company Hope Yoga Physio she runs various yoga classes including ‘Yoga for Adventure Sports,' designs bespoke yoga programme for people as part of injury prevention and rehabilitation and is guest yoga teacher at a number of Adventure and Cycling festivals around the UK.
